Hi Educause community, As always, appreciate the conversation around these topics, so please don't let my response here interrupt the flow. I did want to provide additional links and context on what is being discussed in the interest of resource sharing. From what I can see, the discussion is centered ...

Hi Educause Community, I wanted to share an update regarding the new category of storage called "Other" in the domain wide storage meter and end user storage meter. Appreciate everyone's patience around the communication as it relates to this recent change. At a high level this is a new category to give ...

I would look over this announcement back in February of last year and the associated HC article. Though this is not Google recommended, there is granularity in defining a separate spam rule (tied to existing lists you have defined) that will allow you to bypass warning banners. Exercise caution and for ...

Might be worth looking into utilizing access groups (service setting ON for the group; OFF everywhere else), then have these departments / teams manage just the membership to the group that has access to the service. This way you don't need to open up service setting privileges to delegated admins. Added ...

Correct. Student A owns the folder in their MyDrive. Student B owns files in the folder that Student A owns in Student A's MyDrive. When Student B performs the Takeout Transfer, Student B will get only a copy of all the files they own transferred to their consumer account. Since this is a copy the original ...

The transfer applies to all files owned by the user initiating the Takeout, regardless of file location.

Hi all, While I don't want to limit the discussion on this important topic, I did want to clarify one component to this announcement as our initial Email Sender Guidelines may not clearly call this out: Sender requirements and Google enforcement apply only when sending email to personal Gmail accounts. While ...

Allan, Forgive. I am not clear on what you mean by "cannot access the form". As the responder over storage or the owner over storage? Also, if the user makes changes within Drive (upload, edit, create) the new quota the admin set should be quickly reflected on the user side due to the action the user ...

Allan, You may have seen this in your testing already, but: If uploading a file to the Google Form from Desktop / local machine, the file is uploaded to the responder's Drive as well If already in the responder's Drive (ignoring the fact that the responder's Drive in your case is read-only) a copy of ...

Tron and I are discussing this offline and he has made his concerns to me known, but I also felt a wider response was needed: I have confirmed that the removal of labels seems to encounter errors at scale when moving users out of the OU that the DLP rule is scoped to. Additionally, you will likely find ...

Thank you Jay. I may have conflated the 2 use cases, the movement through transfer of ownership vs. the movement out of the OU. I can test and update any assumptions on the nuances. Inre the use case you are alluding to, concerns around what to do when the user comes back, I think our guidance would ...

They should still be able to access their files. Those files will just be in a read only state. Meaning users won't be able to upload new items to Drive, make copies of existing items in Drive, or make edits on existing items in Drive.

Though not directly related to DLP rule conditions, the logic is the same for the use case specified in this scenario: What if the rule condition is empty? I'd also be mindful of over labelling your user's files. And there are ways to track these changes in the Investigation Tool / Drive logs. For example: ...

+1 to all that Josh shared. Many times this comes down to fine tuning on the GCP project level and the process he describes is the best path forward to increasing limits. In the past, for customers that use Globus, Globus support has also been helpful in adjusting quotas in their service to accommodate ...

Hello everyone, I wanted to close the loop on this as a fix for this issue was in the process of rolling out around the time of this thread and was completed last week. I also confirm this separately with a few Universities who were seeing this issue. Searching on the owner of the file should not surface ...
