Unfortunately, many of those will still get through-it's sort of a game of whack-a-mole, honestly, and takes a good bit of staff time writing up new rules/regexes to block them. Sigh.

We turned it on for the majority (~55,000) of our users a year or so ago. No one has yet noticed that there's a slight delay in delivery. Or at least no one has yet opened a ticket to complain about it..... Cheers,

Hi all: Check out https://risedigital.tech/blog/google-shared-drive-migration-errors-hidden-files-unmovable for a really interesting blog post about a subtle issue that can cause My Drive to Shared Drive migrations to go sideways. It was just published a few minutes ago. Well worth a read if you’re ...

Thanks Madi! Much appreciated. So it sounds like the experience is the same for collaborators if an owner is over quota, regardless of what that quota is. Thinking about it, that makes total sense. Doh! (But I should listen to my own advice in terms of there being no such thing as a stupid question....) ...

Hi Ryan: As some background, unfortunately, that bug is one of the biggest downsides of using Drive Trust rules to hide files. I, and many others, have made the point to Google that this is a pretty serious bug related to Drive Trust rules, not just for the purposes many of us are using it for, but ...

I just checked our rapid release test environment, and it looks like we don't yet have the new layout. I'm still seeing the layout below. Does anyone see the new design in their domain? Thanks,

Hi all: The subject really says it all. I know at least some universities are setting expired file/folder owners to zero quota as part of your draw-down process. I’m looking into whether something like that will fit into our plans too. Do any of you have any documentation that explains to the collaborators ...

Hi all: A little story: Many of you are probably familiar with CDW/Amplified's Gopher for Drive reporting product (https://amplifiedlabs.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500010675802-Gopher-for-Drive-Introduction). The other day, I was looking at the Gopher for Drive listing in the Google Workspace Marketplace ...

You might also want to ask this question over in the Cloud Computing CG, where more folks who manage this stuff hang out. https://www.educause.edu/community/cloud-computing-community-group In terms of a more direct answer, I'm about the furthest thing from an expert myself, but perhaps some of the trainings ...

Hi Gerry: There's also been some discussions about these change management sorts of topics related to Google over in the ITCOMM Community Group-you might have a look at the group archives over there. Hi Hunter: You wrote "Real answer: You can't use an app password to log in as that Google Account and wreak havoc. Just to read and write mail (and a few other actions)." Is there any documentation about what actions you can do with an App Password? That's been one of my concerns for a while, and it'd ...

You could probably use Got Your Back to do this. GYB is also written by Jay Lee, the creator of GAM. See https://github.com/GAM-team/got-your-back/wiki for the details. Cheers,

Yup, they also need posting permission to the sub-groups. I wrote this up many years ago in the document at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DfTbCOml3mv2CM4NoaKUyBr3tx8P8tHxPv6nhssYxYU/ - it's a little out of date now, but the concepts hold. By way of translation, "CalGroups" is UC Berkeley's implementation ...

I'm not sure I know the full answer, but for at least some of it: For Gmail, there are a couple of options: 1) The recipient can choose to block the sender, which will route all messages from that sender to their Spam folder. 2) The Google Workspace Administrator can set up a routing setting to block ...

I totally agree with Petrus, especially the part about "pick one"-I've lost count of the number of institutions I've talked to who have manufactured huge headaches for themselves by trying to run a combination of both. The calendaring/scheduling space seems to be particularly problematic for those hybrid ...

For us, the justification is/was easy. We've been a Google school for over 10 years, and the cost of moving 200,000+ accounts to MS from both a technical (mapping and migrating data, reconfiguring systems, retraining technical staff) and end-user change management (helping users through the transition) ...
